It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that Local 1403 announces the passing of our brother, President Emeritus Dominick F. Barbera at the age of 84 on September 28, 2018. Dominick "Dom" began his distinguished career with the Metro-Dade Fire Department in 1966 and served our community for 30 years when he retired as Lieutenant in 1996. Brotherhood as defined by Merriam-Webster; feelings of friendship, support, and understanding between people: a group or organization of people who have the same interests, jobs, etc. In the fire service, we know it means so much more. Brotherhood means that we are there for one another. It means we have each other’s backs.
